Ghaziabad: A four-year-old boy died during a dust storm on Friday.


A four-year-old boy was killed and his family members injured when an under-construction part of an adjoining multi-storey house collapsed and a large part of the roof of the victim's house collapsed allegedly due to strong winds at Sudamapuri in Ghaziabad. And the dust storm affected parts of Delhi-NCR.

The family of the deceased said that due to the storm, the under-construction part of the fourth floor of the adjoining house allegedly collapsed and huge debris fell on the roof of the victim's house.

“As a result, there was a huge hole in the roof and the debris fell on five people who were sleeping by then. My brother, Amit Kumar, 24, his wife, 23, and their two sons – Shiv Kumar aged four. Sal, and a minor child aged five months, were in the house except for Amit's younger brother Mono. All suffered minor injuries but Shiv suffered major internal injuries. He was taken to hospital late on Friday night for treatment He died during that,” said Amit's cousin Vimlesh Kumar.

The family hails from Hardoi and Amit shifted to Ghaziabad about five years ago.

“The deceased Shiv had started going to school last month after taking admission in the nursery class. The condition of other family members is stable and we have lodged a complaint with the police in this regard,” Kumar added. Ran away and never came back to the site.

A part of the debris of the under-construction house also fell on another house where a 16-year-old girl Kemti was also injured.

“My sister got injuries on her hand. She was already sick with fever. There were four of us in the house and went inside when the storm started around 10 pm. The others survived. One of the roofs of our house collapsed. The section has also been damaged,'' said Sonam Kumari, Kemti's younger sister.

Police said they have identified Rajesh Chauhan as the owner of the under-construction house.

“We have received a complaint from the complainant regarding the collapse of a part of a house under construction. The complainant has alleged that the negligent construction activity of Rajesh Chauhan caused the incident and resulted in the death of his child. “We have taken the complaint and registered an FIR under appropriate IPC sections,” said Poonam Mishra, ACP of View City Circle.
