Ghaziabad: A man was allegedly killed by a partner he met on a dating app.

A 38-year-old man was arrested on Saturday for allegedly killing a 45-year-old man on May 2 after an argument after they had sex in a Ghaziabad flat, police said.

A fight broke out between the two men and Faheem allegedly strangled Roy in a fit of rage, police said. A case under Section 302 (murder) of the Indian Penal Code was registered at the Ankar Vihar police station. (Representative image)

Rai's body was found on May 8 in a ground-floor flat in Ghaziabad's DLF Ankur Vihar, with her hands and legs tied with cloth, after neighbors complained to the police about the stench coming from the flat.

“The post-mortem confirmed death by strangulation. Apparently the murder took place four to five days ago. We did electronic surveillance and scanned the CCTV. We found that the victim had exchanged several calls with the suspect. “In the CCTVs, the suspect was the only one who left the house at 6 pm on May 2 and no one entered or left the house after that,” said Vivek Chandra Yadav, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Rural).

Police said Roy did not own the flat where he was killed. Police said she was assigned some domestic and repair work in the flat, whose owner lives in Delhi's Karol Bagh.

Rai and Faheem exchanged at least four calls on May 2, police said. “These calls were exchanged to lead Faheem to the flat. Faheem was the last man seen on CCTV to leave the flat. We arrested Faheem on Saturday for murder,” he said. DCP Yadav said.

Officers involved in the case said that Faheem gave a detailed account of the murder to the police.

“Faheem told us that he and Roy connected on a dating app and decided to meet. CCTV showed the two arriving at the flat at 12.30pm on May 2, where they engaged in physical contact several times. When Faheem decides to leave after a few hours, Roy locks the flat inside and asks Faheem to continue their relationship in the future. When Faheem refuses, Roy says that he sexually assaulted her recorded the videos and threatened to publish them online if Rai did not agree to their demands,” said Bhaskar Verma, Assistant Commissioner of Police (Ankur Vihar).

A fight broke out between the two and Faheem allegedly strangled Rai in a fit of rage, police said. “He then checked Roy's mobile phone but could not find the alleged videos. It seems that Roy did not record any video of their encounter. ACP Verma added that Faheem stripped Roy of his clothes. Tied him with clothes and fled from the spot.

A case under Section 302 (murder) of the Indian Penal Code was registered at the Ankur Vihar police station.
