Ghaziabad: A 34-year-old man was arrested. Ghaziabad Police for allegedly killing his 32-year-old cousin on Tuesday over an old rivalry.
According to the police, the accused has been identified as Amit Singh alias Vikash, a resident of Abupur village in Newari. He is a farmer.
Rural DCP Surendranath Tiwari said that on October 25, the Newari police station received a report of a dead body in the Newari area. When the police arrived, the body had bullet wounds, and the police immediately identified the body as Mithlesh Singh. They informed his family and later the family filed a complaint against Amit.
“On Monday night, the police were checking the vehicles, but at around 1 am on Tuesday, the police saw a man coming on a motorcycle. The police asked him to stop but he tried to run away and opened fire on the police. “During the cross-firing, the accused was shot in the leg. We took him to MMG Hospital, where his condition is stable.”
During interrogation, the accused told the police that Mithlesh's father and the father of the accused are brothers. There was one Land dispute between the two families, and it was resolved by the panchayat about six months ago. A dispute ensued between Mithlesh and the accused, during which his parents complained about Mithlesh to his father Dharampal, who is the uncle of the accused. In response, Mithlesh slapped his father and insulted his mother. That day he decided to avenge his parents' insult by killing Mithlesh. Every time he passed by and Mithlesh stared at him, it made him more anxious. On the morning of October 25, when Mithlesh was going to work in Moradnagar, the accused was waiting for him by hiding in the bushes in front of the regulator. When Mithlesh passed by on his bicycle, Vikash shot him twice in the back. After he fell in the roadside bushes, the accused opened fire on him indiscriminately, killing him. The accused also said that if he had not killed the victim, Mithlesh would have killed him. After killing Mithlesh, he fled from the spot,” he said.
A case was registered against the accused by the Newari Police Station under Section 103 (1) (punishment for murder) of the BNS.
