The Uttar Pradesh Pollution Control Board (UPPCB) on Tuesday took cognizance of a complaint by a city environmentalist on a social media site, alleging that sewage was being released into the Onyati Extension pond. , and has instructed the regional officers of Ghaziabad to take action in this regard. issue and report as soon as possible.
Environmentalist Satyendra Singh through a post on X (formerly Twitter) sent a complaint to the Central Pollution Control Board and UPPCB regarding the matter.
“The problem came to light when local residents called me and asked to visit the area. During one visit, I found sewage outlets of nearby residential areas discharging waste into the pond, which was recently restored. “Sewage discharge may cause environmental problems. I posted a complaint on X with photos of the site and directed its Ghaziabad officials to take action,” Singh said said
In response to Singh's complaint, UPPCB, Lucknow replied to X, “@UppcbG please take necessary action as per law and update the ATR in the attachment related to the said subject of complaint.”
UPPCB regional officials said they would inspect the site soon.
“We will conduct an inspection as soon as possible and take action accordingly after ascertaining the facts. The action will be taken as per the official communication received from the UPPCB in the coming days,” Yu said. PPCB, Ghaziabad Regional Officer Vikas Mishra said.
Municipal commissioner Vikramaditya Malik said, “We will get the matter investigated as soon as possible.”
