Ghaziabad police on Thursday arrested two suspects who were allegedly part of a gang that stole copper wires from a factory on Patel Marg after taking a security guard hostage in the early hours of September 7.
The incident of robbery took place within the limits of Sihani Gate police station and the owner of the factory, Harjinder Singh, lodged an FIR on the same day.
Police have identified the two suspects as Nitin Rai, a resident of nearby Shabanpura, and his accomplice Mohammad Zahid, a resident of Jyoti Nagar, Delhi.

“Suspect Roy is a local and he knew that the factory had a lot of stock of copper wires. He and other members of his gang have a history of involvement in such incidents. We have based on electronic surveillance and With the help of CCTV footage, arrested both the suspects,” said Rajesh Kumar, Deputy Commissioner of Police, (City).
Police said that raids are on to nab the three absconding accused and they have been identified as Muhammad Arif, Muhammad Nadeem and another accomplice, whose name is yet to be known.
“They sold some copper wires to a scrap dealer and used the money in the party. Our teams will arrest the rest of the suspects soon,” the DCP said.
