The Ghaziabad Development Authority (GDA) said on Monday that work on Phase 1 of its ambitious 523-hectare Harnandipuram housing project could begin in the first quarter of 2025 as officials approved a land purchase agreement for the scheme. The survey has been completed and acquisition work will be started soon. The process
The GDA Board on August 5 approved the proposal to develop the Haranandipuram housing project and Regional Rapid Transit System (RRTS) corridor near Delhi-Meerut Road.
The scheme proposes to purchase land from farmers in eight villages of Mathurapur, Nagla Feroze Mohanpur, Shamsher, Champatnagar, Bhanida Khurd, Shahpur Murta, Murta and Bhowapur.
The survey work for the housing scheme has been completed and our officials are preparing the report. The procedure for Phase 1 will then be determined. We intend to develop the housing scheme in a phased manner and it is likely that work on Phase 1 could begin in the first quarter of 2025. For this we have planned to buy land directly from farmers,” said Atul Vats, Vice President. Chairperson, GDA.
The location of the new settlement is about three kilometers from the Delhi Meerut Road towards the rear of the Rajnagar Extension.
The scheme will have around 5,000 residential units, officials said.
“The land proposed for the Haranandipuram housing scheme is mainly agricultural land identified under the draft Master Plan 2031, and with the intervention of the state government, the authority will convert it into residential land. One of the GDA's The official, speaking on condition of anonymity, said there was no change in land use as it would have made it difficult for the authority to acquire a continuous share of the land and private developers would have started building their own housing. .
The draft master plan 2031 has already been approved by the GDA board in August and will now be sent to the state government for final approval, officials said.
“We expect the draft plan to come out before the end of 2024,” Watts said.
Officials said the Haranandipuram housing scheme would be funded by the state government as well as the authority.
Authority officials are positive about the success of the scheme due to its proximity to the RRTS, Delhi-Meerut Expressway, Eastern Peripheral Expressway, Delhi-Meerut Road and the Hindon Elevated Road connecting the city to East Delhi.
GDA last developed a housing scheme in 2004, called the Madhuban Bapodham Housing Project.
