Search engine giant Google has introduced new artificial intelligence (AI)-powered features to its video editing tools in the Photos app.
With the new feature, users will be able to edit videos with less effort than before. This includes an updated trim tool that can help the device owner trim videos with better control so that he can precisely cut the footage of his choice with less hassle.
There's also a new 'Auto Enhance' button that lets users enhance colours and stabilise videos with just a tap.
The new Speed tool allows users to control the speed of recorded videos. Phone owners can convert any normal video into slow motion.
And, the most notable upgrade coming to the Photos app is the AI-powered video presets. This new preset feature can automatically trim videos, adjust lighting, and control speed.
In addition, it can also apply effects such as dynamic motion tracking of the main subject and zooming into the main action. Users can also apply slow-mo with just a few taps.
The new AI-powered editing tools will be made available on both Android and iOS versions of the Photos app via updates in the coming weeks.
In a related development, Google has announced a new feature to identify fake and real photos in search results.
It has become very difficult to distinguish between real and artificial multimedia content. Cybercriminals are misusing this generation AI to run misinformation campaigns to defame celebrities and politicians.
To curb such incidents, Google has partnered with the Content Provenance and Authenticity Alliance (C2PA) to introduce new technology that can help tell whether a photo is taken with a camera, edited by software, or created by generative AI.
