Popular video-conferencing app, Google Meet is getting a new AI-powered tool that will ask users to take notes for them.
In a recent blog post, Google announced the launch of a new “Take notes for me” feature for Google Workspace customers using the desktop version of the app. The tech giant said that the new feature will allow users to focus more on discussions and presentations while notes are being taken automatically during meetings.
After the video meeting ends, the meeting notes will be attached to a calendar event, making them easily accessible to people in the organization. The file is attached as a Google Doc and saved to the meeting owner's Google Drive. If you join a meeting late, just say “Summary so far” to get an AI-generated summary of the meeting.
Right now, this new note-taking feature is available on the desktop version of the app and is only available in English. Google says that the new Gemini-powered feature will be available to Gemini Enterprise, Gemini Education Premium, and all Workspace customers with the AI Meetings and Messaging add-on on or before September 10.
The company recently introduced Gemini-powered “Help Me Write” and “Polish” features on Gmail, making it much easier to write emails. These features are also limited to Google Workspace customers, but are available on the web, Android, and iOS devices.
