The Gurugram Metropolitan Development Authority (GMDA) has announced plans to upgrade the road infrastructure along the route connecting the Dwarka Expressway to Manesar. The initiative aims to facilitate smooth movement of vehicles for passengers traveling on the Dwarka Expressway and intending to enter Manesar.

Gurugram: Upgrading road infrastructure for smooth vehicular movement for commuters Dwarka Expressway And with plans to enter Manesar, the Gurugram Metropolitan Development Authority (GMDA) has decided to do some renovation work. Officials will reconstruct the Master Sector Road that connects the Dwarka Expressway to the IMT in Manesar. GMDA officials said that the six-lane main road and service roads on both sides of the 5.3 km stretch passing through Sector 84-91 will be redeveloped.
The metropolitan authority had approved the Rs 77.7 crore project last January, and they will carry out the renovation work modeled after the ongoing Rampura-Patudi road project.
The Dwarka Expressway brought significant traffic after its inauguration
Soon after the opening of the Dwarka Expressway, heavy traffic increased the use of the 5.3 km stretch. According to the GMDA, an average of about 28,000 vehicles use the road daily. It provides direct access from these sectors to Dwarka Expressway and further to NH-8, Sohna Road, and Southern Peripheral Road (SPR).
This stretch of 5.3 km has many residential societies, shopping complexes, commercial places and schools. While many projects have already been occupied, others are still under construction or proposed. Besides, the Gurugram University at Kankrula village in Sector 87 along this road was inaugurated earlier this year.
The entire campus is expected to be functional by the end of the year, which will increase traffic. The project will strengthen and upgrade the main carriageways, and build service roads on both sides. A GMDA official said surface drains would be constructed to ensure proper drainage and prevent water logging.
“Dedicated cycle tracks and footpaths will be developed to promote sustainable transportation and pedestrian safety. Green belts will also be developed in this regard. Besides, road safety furniture and street lights will be installed. to improve safety and visibility for all road users.
