A video of the man being beaten and dragged was shared on social media, prompting the police to register a case over the September 3 incident.
Ghaziabad police have arrested two suspects nearly a fortnight after a 43-year-old man was beaten up by several people outside the gate of a high-rise building in Mohannagar, officials said on Friday. He added that the victim pushed a security guard near the main entrance of the society, which started a fight.
A video of the man being beaten and dragged by three men was shared on social media, prompting the police to register a case of the incident that took place on September 3.
“The video shows the men beating up a 43-year-old resident. The man seen being beaten up in the video has been identified as Pawan Kumar who allegedly assaulted security guard Apoor Mishra at the main gate. “After which an altercation ensued, security guard Akshay Kumar and supervisor Parveen Kumar were arrested for beating Kumar,” said Rajneesh Upadhyay, Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP). Sahibabad Circle said.
However, none of the parties involved in the incident reported to the police. The officers said that they reached a compromise and resolved the matter among themselves.
“Since no one informed the police, no action was initiated. The video was shot by a bystander and later went viral. However, after taking notice of the video, we took two suspects into custody. Lia and filed a case against him under Bharatiya Nagarak Sanhta section. We have not received any complaint from the affected resident yet. We are analyzing the video and If any other resident is found to be involved in the killing Will take further action.
