about the scoop

Based on Jigna Vora’s book Behind Bars in Byculla, Scoop is the story of intrepid crime reporter Jagriti Vora (played by Karishma Tanna). Following the murder of a fellow journalist by the Chhota Rajan gang in 2011, Jagriti is soon arrested after investigating the murder and falsely accused of the crime. It was released on Netflix in June.

The Hindustan Times review of the series states, “Scoop doesn’t hate journalists, nor does it want you to. It respects the profession and acknowledges the dangers involved, but also points its finger at the increasingly volatile landscape of the current trend of controversy-happy, clickbait journalism. There is no time for truth, only thoughts. Less facts, more gossip. All this is an integral part of the movement. Scoop is an entertaining, thought-provoking piece of work – right down to its hair-raising final credits, and it’s brought together by a director who is in complete command of his craft. All reports require evidence, while some require more courage.
