As soon as former South African cricketer Gary Kirsten joined the Pakistan men's team as the limited overs coach, many in the Indian cricket world were not happy. Kirsten was the coach of Team India when the MS Dhoni-led side won the ICC ODI World Cup in 2011. Many fans and former Indian cricketers were not happy to see Kirsten join the cross-border team. In fact, former Indian spinner Harbhajan Singh had even asked him to return to the Indian team as the head coach. Now that Kirsten has resigned as Pakistan coach, Harbhajan has the 'last laugh'.

“Don't waste your time there Gary.. Come back coach of Team India. Gary Kirsten One of the rare gems. A great coach, mentor, friend to everyone in the 1202 team. Our winning coach of the 2011 World Cup. Exclusive Dude Gary @Gary_Kisten,” Harbhajan Singh wrote in a post on X following Pakistan's early exit from the T20 World Cup 2024.

As soon as Kirsten submitted her resignation as Pakistan's white-ball coach, a fan reminded everyone of the warning that Harbhajan had given to Kirsten after taking over the post.

Harbhajan also reacted to the said 'reminder' and shared some laughing emojis.

There have been many changes in the Pakistan team in the last few weeks. After Pakistan's defeat against England in the first Test in Multan, the PCB decided to change the entire selection committee. Pakistan won the next two matches but questions still remain over the functioning of the board. Mohammad Rizwan has been named the team's new white-ball captain, replacing Babar Azam, another change that came into effect following Kirsten's resignation.
