Hassan Lok Sabha MP Shreyas M. Patel on Thursday held a meeting with officials of the Health and Family Welfare Department and Hassan Institute of Medical Sciences on measures taken to prevent the spread of dengue cases in the district.
The MP collected information from the officials and found that the figures of dengue cases provided by the district health officer did not match with the information shared by HIMS officials. He lashed out at the officials for lack of coordination between the departments. He said that the officials should take the issue seriously and take all possible measures to save lives.
Shri Patel asked the Asha workers to spread awareness about dengue among the public and instruct people to immediately consult a doctor if they notice any symptoms.
HIMS pediatrician Dr. Manu Prakash said that eight children are being treated in the institute's intensive care unit and their condition is critical. He said that it would be better if the patient consults a doctor immediately if he sees symptoms of dengue.
District surgeon Dr HC Lokesh, HIMS director Dr SV Santosh, DHO BN Sivaswamy and others were present in the meeting.
