Gurugram, May 29 (PTI) In a precautionary move, the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has allowed traffic movement after a section of the Hero Honda Chowk flyover here “sunk” and its plaster was damaged. has closed one lane for officials said Wednesday.

Six NHAI employees have been deployed to prevent any mishap due to the damaged 20-metre stretch, an official said.

The official added that a three-expert committee has also been constituted by the NHAI to investigate the matter and submit a report on the cause of the damage to the flyover within the next seven days.

According to the Gurugram traffic police, plaster fell from a part of the flyover on Sunday night. One lane of the flyover on the Delhi-Jaipur route was closed for traffic movement on Monday.

About two feet of plaster fell from the Hero Honda flyover due to which barricades were erected and one lane was closed for traffic. The 1400 meter flyover was constructed at a cost of around Rs 200 crore. Its construction started in 2014 and was completed in 2017.

There are several cases of such damage to flyovers. The Jaipur-Delhi section was damaged twice in 2018 and 2019. In 2021, the upper part of the flyover was demolished and rebuilt. Last year, the Gurugram police had arrested four people from a construction company for using substandard material in the construction of the flyover in connection with a case registered in 2019.
