House: The roof of a family sleeping in the house collapsed, one person died Ghaziabad News

Ghaziabad: A 25-year-old man died while his wife was seriously injured when a part of the roof of their house collapsed in Kotwali Nagar area on Sunday night. At the time of the incident, the couple was sleeping on the ground floor of a two-storey house.
ACP Kotwali Nimesh Patil said Shahrukh, a shopkeeper at the local weekly market, and Suhani were buried under the debris when the roof of the house collapsed around 3 am.
“Other family members and neighbors removed the chunks of concrete and pulled the couple out. Both of them sustained serious injuries and were rushed to a nearby hospital but were shifted to a state-of-the-art medical facility. Shahrukh escaped unharmed. I myself died. Suhani is currently undergoing treatment and her condition is critical,” said Patil.
The shopkeeper’s mother was on the first floor of the house and escaped with injuries.
The police were informed much later and when they arrived, the family refused to hand over the body for post-mortem. Police said the family acknowledged the house was old, but didn’t think the roof would hold. to fall. No case or complaint has been filed yet.
Last month, a two-storey house in Loni’s Rupnagar Colony collapsed after an explosion, leaving seven residents buried under the debris. Three children aged 15 to 16 years were killed in this incident. According to the police, an illegal firecracker unit was being run from a house in Loni. However, the police claimed that it was not clear whether the explosion that brought down the roof was caused by a cylinder or crackers being made there. A damaged cylinder has been recovered from the scene.
ACP Rajneesh Kumar Upadhyay had earlier said that a forensic team is examining the samples to ascertain what caused the blast.
In February this year, two workers were killed and eight injured when the roof of an under-construction building collapsed in Loni’s Roopnagar industrial area. Local residents claimed that the laborers were working at the site, owned by one Madanlal Sharma, when the roof collapsed around 2.45 am.
