In Bihar, 22 drowned while bathing during the Jivit Patraka festival.


At least 22 people tragically lost their lives in separate incidents after drowning while swimming in rivers and ponds in Bihar, officials said on Sunday. All persons drowned within 24 hours.

In Bhojpur, two young girls, aged 15 and 20, tragically drowned near the Bahiyara ghat on the Sone river on Saturday. One of them was swept away in the rapids while taking a selfie while four others tried to save her.

A statement issued by the chief minister’s office said: “During the last 24 hours five in Bhojpur, four in Jehanabad, three each in Patna and Rohtas, two each in Darbhanga and Nawada, Kaimur, Madhepura and They have drowned one by one in Aurangabad.”
