In Haridwar, cars and buses were swept away by torrential rains.

As the monsoon arrived in Uttarakhand, the rising water level of the river engulfed everything in its reach. After heavy rains in Haridwar, several vehicles parked in a cremation ghat were swept away by the rapids of a seasonal river.

Several cars and buses can be seen plunging into the seasonal river in Harki Puri, seen from the scene. Buses and eight cars parked in the graveyard were swept away by the strong current.

In one video, a policeman warns pilgrims and locals not to go near the river. “The water level in the river has suddenly risen after the rain. Everyone is requested not to go near the river,” he said.

Such incidents of seasonal river overflows during monsoon are commonly reported in Uttarakhand.
