Increase in jobs through PM Surya Ghar free electricity scheme! 1 lakh people will be trained to install solar panels in homes


PM Surya Ghar Free Electricity Scheme ready for employment generation! The government is preparing to train a workforce of 100,000 persons in its establishment and maintenance solar panels Supporting its initiative to help 10 million families transition to solar energy.
The ministries of renewable energy and skill development and entrepreneurship have jointly developed the 'skill scheme', sources familiar with the development told ET.PM Surya Ghar: Free Electricity Scheme', a government rooftop solar project designed to enable households to generate up to 300 units of electricity through grid-connected solar panels.
Launched in February this year, the scheme offers a subsidy of up to Rs 78,000 to those interested in setting up solar power generation units.

“The number of people to be trained may be increased depending on the requirement,” a source was quoted as saying. REC Ltd, the nodal agency for the modified rooftop solar programme, is expected to partner with institutes like National Electrical Training Institute and National Skill Development Corporation for the purpose, the source said.
Apart from skilled personnel, another hurdle to implementation on such a scale would be the need for a large number of vendors.
The government is also targeting to train 50,000 vendors in entrepreneurship, an official said. Unlike the existing system of registration with distribution companies, more vendors are expected to register on the National Rooftop Solar Portal, the official said.

Ministry of Renewable Energy Recently a new portal has been changed and the National Vendor Registration process will be launched soon.
PM Surya Ghar: Free Power Scheme with an outlay of Rs 75,021 crore involves implementation through power distribution companies and vendors with streamlined subsidies and collateral-free loans.
Within a month of its launch, registrations under the scheme crossed the 10 million mark. Of the registered consumers, around 800,000 have applied for installation.
