Team India will continue their impressive run in the T20 World Cup 2024 when they take on England in the second semi-final at the Providence Stadium in Guyana on Thursday, June 27. The match promises to be a much-anticipated game, with two of the best white-ball teams playing against each other.
However, ahead of the match, there are literally dark clouds looming over the game. Heavy rain is predicted during the matchAccording to weather.com, there is a high chance of rain during the match, around 60% on match day. The game will start at 10:30 am local time (8:00 pm IST) and there is a 58% chance of rain at 12 noon in Guyana, which could halt the game.
The forecast remains unfavourable till 3:00 PM local time, further reducing the chances of the match being completed. To complete the match, the ICC (International Cricket Council) has allotted a total of 250 minutes of extra time for both semi-finals. So, if the weather remains favourable, the ground staff will have enough time to prepare the ground for the match.
Who qualifies if the game is cancelled?
However, if the game is abandoned due to rain, as per clause 16.10.7 of the ICC's playing conditions for T20 World Cup 2024, the higher-placed team in its Super 8 group will qualify for the final. So, if the game is abandoned due to rain then India are certain to reach the final as they have topped Super 8 Group 1 by winning all their matches.

England, on the other hand, finished second after winning two out of three matches. However, fans will be hoping for a full 40-over game between the two legendary white-ball teams of modern cricket.
The ICC's playing conditions for the tournament state, “If the Semi-finals are tied, the teams will compete in a Super Over to determine which team progresses to the Final. See Section 16.3.1.2 and Appendix F. If, following a tie, weather conditions prevent the Super Over from being completed, or if the match is abandoned or a no result is reached, the team that finishes first in its Second Round group will progress to the Final.”
