India-Canada tension: After Virat Kohli, Shubman Gill, KL Rahul unfollows Shubneet Singh aka Shubh, singer’s India tour cancelled, big companies terminate contracts | etimes

The India tour of Canada-based singer Shubneet Singh, known by his stage name Shubh, has been canceled amid massive protests over his alleged support for Khalistan and separatists in the past. Ticketing platform BookMyShow recently wrote on its official X account, ‘Singer Shubneet Singh’s Still Rollin’ Tour for India has been cancelled. To this end, BookMyShow has initiated full refund of the ticket amount for all consumers who purchased tickets for the show. The refund will be reflected in the source account of the customer’s original transaction within 7-10 working days.’ Shubh was scheduled to visit several cities in India such as Mumbai, Bengaluru, Delhi, Hyderabad in the next two months. The decision came amid the ongoing protests by BJP’s youth wing Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM) in Mumbai against Shubh. He had earlier written a letter to Mumbai Police asking them to register an FIR against Shubh for waging a war against the Indian government and posting anti-government posts. Notably, before the tour was cancelled, electronics brand boAt had also announced that it had withdrawn its sponsorship saying that it was ‘first and foremost a true Indian brand’. Even a popular short video-sharing app has removed Shubh’s songs from its platform citing ‘divisive content’ of the singer. To give some background, Shubh had posted two stories on his Instagram account in March this year, which contained a distorted map of India without Jammu and Kashmir and Punjab, along with the caption ‘Pray for Punjab’. Many Indian cricketers like Virat Kohli and Shubman Gill, who have been seen grooving to his songs in the past, have recently unfollowed him on Instagram.
