A flying object with flashing lights was also seen in the sky near Allah Pir area of ​​Poonch district between Saturday and Sunday night. Police along with security forces searched the area and found nothing on the ground, officials said.

Meanwhile, in Punjab's Amritsar district, the Border Security Forces (BSF) recovered a Chinese-made DJI Mavic 3 Classic drone in a cropped field in village Haveliyan.

BSF Punjab Frontier said in a statement, “On 12 May 2024, based on the information provided by the Intelligence Wing of BSF about the presence of drones in the border area of ​​Amritsar district, BSF troops Immediately launched a massive search operation in the suspected area.”

“During a search operation at around 05:35 hrs, troops successfully recovered 01 drone in a cropped field of Haveliyan village in Amritsar district,” the force said.

“The exported drone has been identified as a China-made DJI Mavic 3 Classic,” he said.

The BSF added, “Reliable inputs from BSF's Intelligence Wing and timely action by BSF troops have once again proved their resolve to prevent the entry of illegal drones across the border. “

The recovery marks the second such incident within two days, with a previous drone carrying a packet of suspected heroin.

According to a BSF statement, the incident took place in the night hours of May 11, when security forces spotted drone movement in the border area of ​​Amritsar. Troops monitored the drone's movement and cordoned off the area where it might have crashed.

A BSF public relations officer said, “At around 11:40 pm, BSF troops recovered 1 small drone and 1 packet of suspected heroin in front of a farm in Haveliyan village in Amritsar district. Exported?

The recovered packet (gross weight- 498 gms epoxy) was wrapped with yellow adhesive tape and 1 flashlight and 1 nylon loop were found attached to the packet. The exported drone is a quadcopter (model- DJI Mavic 3 Classic, made in China),” added the PRO.
