IPL 2024: Sourav Ganguly's 'act of respect' for Virat Kohli defies all differences theories

Last year itself, a lot was said and written about the deteriorating equation between former Indian captain Sourav Ganguly and Virat Kohli. Even some of the on-field antics that took place between two legends of Indian cricket during the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 took social media by storm. But, all issues were forgotten as soon as Kohli and Ganguly came face to face after the conclusion of the IPL 2024 match between Royal Challengers Bangalore and Delhi Capitals. Actually, it was Dada's gesture towards Virat which impressed fans on social media.

Royal Challengers Bangalore boosted their playoff qualification hopes with a 35-run win against Delhi Capitals. After the match was over, the players and support staff of both the teams shook hands with each other. When it was Ganguly's turn to shake hands with Kohli, the Delhi Capitals mentor took off his cap as a mark of respect.

This move of Ganguly won the hearts of fans on social media. Here are some reactions:

For the match, Delhi Capitals stand-in captain Axar Patel said that the dropped catches had hurt his team's chances. Had the fielders taken advantage of those opportunities, DC would have restricted RCB to just 150 runs and won the match.

“The dropped catches hurt us. They could have been restricted to 150. When you lose four wickets in the powerplay, you are always chasing the game. 160-170 would have been a par score. The pitch was two-paced. There were some slipping, some catching. When your main players get run out and you lose four in the powerplay, anything can happen, but that's about it. “I haven't thought about it,” he said at the post-match presentation ceremony.

With the defeat, DC's chances of advancing to the IPL 2024 playoffs are all but gone.
