New Delhi:
The International Society for Krishna Consciousness (ISKCON) is the “biggest fraud” in the country because it sells its cows. Cows Butchers (cow herders), BJP MP Maneka Gandhi accused the religious organization in a scathing attack.
Ms. Gandhi, a former Union minister, is an animal rights activist and takes to social media on animal welfare issues.
“Scoon is the country’s biggest scam,” she is heard saying in a video that has gone viral. She says in the video that they take care of cowsheds and receive benefits from the government, including vast land.
She then recalls her visit to one of the villages, saying, “I just visited their Anantapur cowshed. There was not a dry cow in the whole dairy. Not a single calf. That meant All were sold out.”
“Iscon is selling all its cows to butchers. No one else does as much as they do. And they go out on the streets and sing ‘Hare Rama Hare Krishna’. Then they say their whole life depends on milk. Maybe, “No one has sold as many cattle to butchers as they have,” he is heard to say.
ISKCON has not yet responded to this comment.
ISKCON, affiliated with the Hare Krishna movement, maintains hundreds of temples worldwide and has thousands of devotees from abroad.
