After announcing the cancellation of the UGC-NET 2024 exam, the Center assured students that their best interest will be kept in mind when it comes to the National Eligibility Test. Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan added that a CBI probe has been initiated after the Center received reports of exam compromise.
Speaking on the cancellation of the UGC-NET 2024 exam, Dharmendra Pradhan told ANI, “I want to assure the students, this is your government… Rest assured, students' interest is key for us… Yesterday evening, IC4 gave input to UGC-NET that there is a possibility that the exam was compromised. We investigated and we also realized that the exam was compromised… We exam canceled and CBI started inquiry.
Addressing the press conference on Thursday, the education minister said that we take responsibility, we have to correct the system while talking about the cancellation of the exam. He further assured the students that any irregularity or malpractice will not be tolerated by the government.
Pradhan said in the press conference that the UGC-NET exam was canceled because the paper was leaked on the darknet. Earlier, the National Testing Agency announced that the paper was canceled because “the integrity of the exam was compromised.”
The education minister also said that the Center would constitute a high-level committee to review the functioning of the NTA amid the raging controversy over the cancellation of UGC-NET and alleged irregularities in the NEET-UG medical entrance exam.
“The government is going to form a high-level committee on NTA reforms. The committee is expected to further improve the NTA, its structure, functioning, examination process, transparency and data security protocols. will make recommendations for. Zero error checking is our commitment,” Pradhan said at a press conference.
On the NEET issue, Pradhan said, “In the context of the NEET exam, we are in touch with the Bihar government, we are getting some information from Patna. The police are investigating and have submitted a detailed report.” Strict action will be taken against the culprits after receiving reliable information.

Protests broke out in different parts of the country after the Education Ministry canceled the UGC-NET 2024 exam on Wednesday. Around 50 students from various universities were detained after the participation of student organizations like SFI, AISA, NSUI in the nationwide protest against the Ministry of Education.
