New Delhi: Jewelery worth over Rs 20 crore was stolen in a major heist from a jewelery shop in Bhogal area of ​​the national capital.
The incident came to light on Tuesday morning when the owners opened the shop. They closed the shop on Sunday and remained closed on Monday.
According to shop owner Sanjeev Jain, the stolen jewelery was worth around Rs 20-25 crore.
“We closed the shop on Sunday and when we opened on Tuesday after the Monday holiday, we found dust all over the shop and a hole in the wall of the strong room. We think they (thieves) have all Looted some, jewelery worth around Rs 20-25 crore.” News agency ANI reported regarding Jain.
“They (robbers) entered through the roof. Everything has been damaged, including the CCTV,” Jain added.
DCP South East Rajesh Dev said that an advanced forensic team was present at the spot. The locker in which the jewelery was kept is yet to be examined.
“It is a major theft incident. Investigation is on. CCTV footage has been accessed,” the DCP said.
The thieves have not yet been identified. Police are yet to confirm the value of the stolen jewellery.
