JPMorgan Chase has begun filing lawsuits against customers who took advantage of the “infinite funds glitch” this summer — a technical problem with the bank's ATMs that allowed people to deposit fraudulent checks and withdraw money from their accounts. Was allowed.

This trend is trending on social media with TikTok users sharing how to deposit fake checks and walk away with huge amounts of cash.

The bank, which is the largest US financial institution, has filed four lawsuits so far – two against individuals and two against businesses. He has lived in Los Angeles, Houston and Miami.

“Fraud is a crime that affects everyone and undermines trust in the banking system,” Chase spokesman Drew Pusateri said in a statement. “We are pursuing these cases and actively cooperating with law enforcement to ensure that if anyone is committing fraud against Chase and its customers, they are held accountable.”

In the largest of the four lawsuits filed so far in the Southern District of Texas, JPMorgan writes that a “masked individual” deposited a fraudulent $335,000 check into the defendants' bank account at an ATM.

The man reportedly withdrew most of the cash before the bank realized it was fake. The bank said it was owed a sum of $290,939.47.

“Chase is proud of its efforts to protect its customers from fraudsters, especially in an environment where bank and wire fraud is becoming more common,” the bank said in its filing.

“Fraud methods have evolved over time, but the basic intent to exploit and deceive remains unchanged,” it says.
