Kangana Ranaut's film Emergency was scheduled to release in theatres on September 6, but it was postponed.

Kangana Ranaut says that only a few people have objections to her film Emergency.

Kangana Ranaut has opened up about the delay in the release of her latest film Emergency. The film was scheduled to hit theatres on September 6 but was postponed due to a delay in getting a certificate from the censor board. Several Sikh organisations have also opposed the film's release, claiming it portrays the community in a negative light.

However, the actress was speaking at the News18 India Chaupal event in New Delhi on Monday when she argued that only a few people have objections to her film. She questioned those defending Bhindranwale and made a strong statement saying he was not a saint but a terrorist.

Kangana said, “This is our history that has been deliberately hidden. We were not told about it. This is not the era of good people.” She then added, “My film is ready to release. It has got a certificate from the censor board. 4 historians have monitored our film. We have proper documentation. There is nothing wrong in my film. But some people call Bhindranwale a saint, revolutionary or leader. They have threatened (to ban their film) through arguments. I have also received threats. Previous governments have declared Khalistanis as terrorists. He was not a saint who was sitting in a temple with an AK47.”

Kangana said, “Only a few people have objections to my film, they are also provoking others. I don't think 99 percent of the people of Punjab consider Bhindranwale a saint. He is a terrorist and if he is a terrorist, then my film should be released.”

Kangana further said that she has also suffered financial loss due to the postponement of her film. She said, “How long will we keep playing safe? I don't think so. I never thought that people would object to Bhindranwale being shown as a terrorist. I am being harassed. This is very shameful for me. We have also suffered losses. My film was canceled just 4 days ago.”

Kangana Ranaut is not only playing the lead role in Emergency, but is also directing it. Apart from Kangana, the film also stars Anupam Kher, Milind Soman, Mahima Chaudhary and Shreyas Talpade. Shreyas Talpade will be seen playing the role of Atal Bihari Vajpayee, while Anupam Kher will be seen in the role of Jayaprakash Narayan. Late actor Satish Kaushik will also be seen in the role of former Deputy Prime Minister of India Jagjivan Ram.

However, the film is being boycotted and there are demands for a ban on it. Several Sikh organisations have accused the film of misrepresenting the community. The Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) and Akal Takht have also demanded an immediate ban on the film. They claim that the film tries to attack the character of Sikhs by creating a narrative against them.
