Khalistani terrorist Arshad Dalla has ties to Lashkar-e-Taiba: sources

New Delhi:

Delhi Police has found that Canada-based Khalistani terrorist Arshad Dalla has links with Pakistan-based terror outfit Lashkar-e-Taiba and wanted to target Hindu leaders in Punjab.

This holds significance against the backdrop of a large-scale diplomatic dispute between India and Canada. Relations between New Delhi and Ottawa have been strained since Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau accused Indian agents of being behind the killing of Khalistani terrorist Hardeep Singh Najjar in June this year.

India reacted strongly, terming the allegations as “ridiculous” and “outrageous”. A series of tit-for-tat moves and advice ensued, as India and Canada expelled ambassadors and warned their citizens against visits.

The Khalistani terrorist’s plan to target Hindu organizations and leaders of the BJP’s ideological wing Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) came to light during a Delhi Police crackdown on two terror suspects earlier this year. was In January, police raided Delhi’s Jahangir Puri and arrested Jagjit Singh Jagga and Naushad after weapons were recovered. Both were later charged under the stringent Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act.

According to the Delhi Police chargesheet filed in court two months ago, Jagga revealed during interrogation that he was in touch with Dilla. The charge sheet states that the Canada-based Khalistani terrorist had asked Jagga to be ready for terrorist activities in Punjab.

Dalla was in touch with Sohail, a handler of Lashkar. The arrested terrorist suspects had also told the police that on the instructions of Sohail and Dula, they killed a Hindu boy and beheaded him in Jahangirpuri, Delhi. He also recorded a video and sent it to Sohail and Dilla. Police sources had then said that Naushad and Jagga had sent the video to “prove their loyalty” and that they had received Rs 2 lakh to commit the heinous crime.

“The fugitive accused Jagjit Singh @jagga came in contact with designated Khalistani terrorist Arsdeep @arshdala during his tenure who directed him to kill some RSS leaders and leading figures against the Khalistani movement in Punjab. In Pakistan Moqim Sohail, Naushad, Jagjit Singh @ Jagga and Arsdeep @ Arsh Dala for committing terrorist activities on the instructions of Lashkar-e-Taiba and on the other hand on the instructions of designated terrorist Arsh Dala in Punjab and other parts of the country,” Delhi Police charge. The sheet says.

“They have been tasked to kill sadhus/religious leaders and carry out target killings in Punjab for which they have received money, arms from Sohail and Arsdeep @Dala,” he added.

Sources have said that Dalla had the full support of Pakistan’s ISI and Lashkar-e-Taiba. It is also known that Dilla was close to Najjar and Khalistani terrorist Sukhdol Singh who was recently killed in a gang war in Canada.

Dalla, 27, hails from Moga district of Punjab and is an accused in at least 25 cases. The charges leveled against him include murder, criminal conspiracy and cases registered under the Arms Act and the Anti-Narcotics Act.
