The doctors were demanding Goyal's resignation over his handling of the vandalism at RG Kar Hospital during a protest march on August 14. He was accused of aggravating the situation and received a political backlash.
These decisions were formalized and signed by Chief Secretary Manoj Pant, after which a delegation of 42 doctors attending the meeting counter-signed them. During the talks, it was also decided that a special task force headed by Pant would monitor security measures in hospitals.
