Indian captain Rohit Sharma attended a press conference in Chennai on Tuesday ahead of the start of the first Test match of the two-match series between India and Bangladesh.

India and Bangladesh will play a two-Test series at home, starting on Thursday (September 19) in Chennai. Ahead of the first match of the series at the MA Chidambaram Stadium, Indian captain Rohit Sharma said in a press conference on Tuesday that every team wants to beat India, but the host team does not care about what others say.

According to him, England also said a lot during the five-match Test series earlier this year, but India's focus is always on their game.

,Look at Bangladesh. Every team wants to beat India. It is fun to beat India. Let them have their own labyrinth. But our job is to decide how to win the match. We cannot think about what the team playing against us is thinking about us. What is their thinking? He said, “Every team wants to defeat India, everyone enjoys it, let them enjoy it. Our job is to win the match. We cannot think about what others think about us.”

When England came here, they also talked a lot in the press conference but we did not focus on that much. It was important for us to bring the results in our favour. So our effort will still be to play cricket in a good way. Do not think too much about the opposition (When England came, they also said a lot in the press conference, but we don't pay attention to that. We try to play good cricket and don't think too much about the opposition)

Because if you talk about the teams now, then Indians have played cricket against all the teams, so it is not necessary to make a separate strategy. If 1-2 new boys come in the team, then you can think about them a little and move forward. But whether it is Bangladesh, Australia, England, Zimbabwe, Kenya, New Zealand, or anyone else. If you play so much cricket against the teams, then you do not need to do anything different. If 1-2 new people come in the team, you discuss about them and move forward. So our effort will also be the same in front of them that we focus on our game.

This reaction of Rohit comes after the statement of Bangladesh captain Nazmul Hussain Shanto in which he said that his team will try to win both the matches against the Indian team in the upcoming series.

“It will be a challenging series for us but after playing a good series against Pakistan, there is extra confidence in our team as well as everyone in the country,” Nazmul told reporters in Bangladesh on Sunday before leaving for India.

“Every series is an opportunity and we will play to win both the matches. (We) will focus on the things we need to do to win… the process is important and we need to do our job properly.”
