The 70-year-old MP can be seen climbing a human pyramid to break an earthen pot filled with curd and later dance to a song played there.

This is not the first time that a BJP leader has been seen celebrating Krishna Janmashtami with such enthusiasm. In 2022, Soumya climbed the three-tiered pyramid to celebrate Dahi Handi At Ghat Cooper in Mumbai

Notably, devotees of Lord Krishna participate enthusiastically. Dahi Handi Ritual, with great joy and enthusiasm. This year Dahi Handi falls on August 27, a day after Krishna Janmashtami.

The Dahi Handi ritual consists of an earthen pot (handi) hung high up, filled with ghee, sweets, curd (yogurt) and butter, which a group of people try to reach and break. The breaking of the handi symbolizes Lord Krishna's playful and mischievous nature.

At least 41 'Govindas', youths involved in forming multi-storied human pyramids as part of 'Dahi Handi' celebrations, were injured in Mumbai on Tuesday, officials said.

These injured Govindas have been admitted for treatment at Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC)-run and private hospitals in the city, a civic official said.

Dahi Handi, part of the Janmashtami festival that marks the birth of Lord Krishna, sees enthusiastic participation of devotees. The festival is being celebrated with traditional enthusiasm in Mumbai and other parts of the state.

As part of the celebrations, Govinda or Dahi Handi participants form multi-faceted human pyramids to break 'Dahi Handis' (earthen pots filled with curd) suspended in mid-air.

Several all-female Govinda groups are also seen trying to break Dahi Handi by forming human pyramids.

The festival led to traffic disruptions in many areas of the city as dahi handis were hung at important intersections and junctions. Two-wheelers and other vehicles belonging to Govinda groups parked haphazardly added to the problems.
