Plaintiff Tran Dang, who participated as a contestant but did not appear in the final cut of the show, claims she was sexually harassed during the filming of the reality show’s fifth season in May 2022. According to the full lawsuit obtained by Deadline, Dang’s then-on-screen fiancé, Thomas Smith, allegedly molested her, displayed himself in the nude without her consent, and “forcibly and Repeatedly made sexual contact”. The complaint alleges that due to 24-hour surveillance, “most if not all of the traumatic acts were filmed by and with the knowledge of the production crew.” But Dang claims producers “attempted to conceal the plaintiff’s sexual harassment by downplaying her lack of attractiveness” and “disregarded her concerns.”
Kinetic Content and Delirium TV denied the allegations in a joint statement People, “We support and stand with victims of sexual harassment, but Ms. Dang’s claims against the producers are baseless,” the statement said. “We document the free choice of adults who volunteer to participate in a social experiment. His journey is neither scripted nor filmed around the clock. We have no knowledge or control over what happens in private living spaces when filming is not taking place, and participants can choose to end their visit at any time. The companies said they “cannot address undisclosed concerns,” and claimed that Dang “never notified the manufacturers of any type of alleged wrongdoing.” They also said that Dang continued filming for several weeks after his lawyers told him that the alleged incident had occurred.
love is blind Producer Chris Colan similarly issued a statement saying that he supports those who come forward about sexual harassment. “If anyone ever comes to us and says they feel unsafe in any way, we will immediately remove them from the experiment and talk to them and try to get to the bottom of it,” he said. “Unfortunately, in this case, that sentiment was never addressed to us, nor were any alleged wrongdoings brought to our attention.” He also refuted Dang’s claims of false imprisonment, noting that the participants were allowed to leave. This isn’t the first time Collen has had to come to the defense of her show. Last month, in response to a separate lawsuit, he denied that the cast had been abused love is blindAlleged “inhumane working conditions.”
