- Mahindra XUV700 diesel variants will outsell petrol variants in May 2024, just like they did in May last year.
The Mahindra XUV700 is one of the best SUVs in India and is a major source of revenue for the domestic automobile giant. The powerful SUV claims to have sold a total of 5,008 units in May this year and the diesel model was the biggest contributor to the total sales of this vehicle.
Of the 5,008 units of Mahindra XUV700 sold in May 2024, the diesel variant accounted for 77 percent, selling 3,845 units. At the same time, the petrol variant of this SUV sold 1,163 units. Last year also, the diesel variant of Mahindra XUV700 sold the most during the same period. In May 2023, the total sales of the diesel variant of Mahindra XUV700 stood at 3,739 units, while the petrol variant sold 1,506 units.

Talking about the production figures of the SUV, the auto major manufactured 3,675 units of the Mahindra XUV700 diesel and 1,732 units of the petrol variant respectively in May this year. This shows a marginal change in the numbers compared to May last year. In May 2023, Mahindra produced 3,708 units of the diesel variant of the XUV700 SUV and 1,570 units of the petrol variant.

The growing demand for SUVs in India is fueling the growth of this segment in the country's passenger vehicle market and the diesel versions promise more powerful performance than their petrol counterparts, which is evident from the popularity of the XUV700 Diesel.

Mahindra XUV700 SUV is priced between ₹ 13.99 lakh and more 26.99 lakh (ex-showroom). This SUV is available with options of a 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol and a 2.2-litre turbocharged diesel motor. Transmission options for the SUV include a six-speed manual gearbox and a six-speed automatic unit, which are available with both petrol and diesel variants of the XUV700. There are six different rims available on this SUV. It competes with rivals like the Tata Harrier and MG Hector.
