Barcelona goalkeeper Marc-Andre ter Stegen has posted a message on social media after a tough last few days for the German star.
Ter Stegen has undergone surgery after rupturing a bone in his knee during Sunday's La Liga win over Villarreal.
The goalkeeper is now expected to miss the majority of the 2024-25 season but he is in positive spirit and has thanked his many well-wishers for their support.
“I am really grateful to all the Barca fans, teammates, rivals, clubs and friends for the support and love I have received since Sunday. I would like to thank the Villarreal supporters for the respect they showed me in the stadium, it means a lot to me. I feel positive and strong, now I focus on my recovery. Thank you!”
It is still unknown whether we will see Ter Stegen again this season. The goalkeeper is said to be targeting a return in May, with Barca still in contention for the title.
Meanwhile, Barca are said to be trying to sign a replacement. Former Juventus and Arsenal stopper Wojciech Szczesny currently appears to be the favourite to come in.
