Mariah Carey didn't speak to sister before her death: report

Mariah Carey was not in contact with her sister Alison during the last month of her life despite being told she was dying, a friend of the singer's late sister has alleged.

Dave Baker, who says he was a friend of Alison's for many years and helped care for him towards the end of his life, spoke about Alison's final days in an interview with The Sun.

“Alison was unhappy that her ‘little sister’ had broken off contact with her,” Baker told the outlet.

“She often talked about it. She wondered if Maria or any of her relatives would come to her funeral. I'm told a memorial service is planned in the future, but there's nothing right now.”

He also claimed that Carrie “never tried to contact Alison, even though she was told a month earlier that Alison was dying.”

“A phone call or, even better, a video call would have meant a lot to Alison. But it never happened,” he said.

Baker took a dig at Carrie's reaction to her sister's death. “And now Mariah is 'heartbroken' over losing her mother and her 'ex' sister,” the alleged friend said. “That merciless rejection only added to Alison's pain.”

According to Baker, “Alison was on home care for the last three weeks of her life” and “had internal organ problems.”

Remembering Alison, he said, “Despite a tough exterior, Alison was an extremely intelligent, warm and sensitive person.”

He added: “I have known him for nine years, and as his friend, and having cared for him in recent months, I will miss him very much.”

Alison's own struggle with addiction was a difficult one for Carrie, with sources telling TMZ that the singer “put up a wall” because she felt she needed to show her sister some “tough love” and not enable her. According to sources, the “Always Be My Baby” singer has attempted to support her sister emotionally and financially in the past, but to no avail.

Though she reportedly wasn't in contact with her sister, Carey spent the last week with her mother, Patricia, as she was dying, TMZ reports.

Based on the available information, it appears that Alison was 63 years old and Patricia was 84 years old when they died. Their causes of death are still unknown.

The Post has reached out to Carey’s rep.

Following the passing of her sister and mother, Carey released a statement on Monday, August 26, saying, “I am heartbroken that I lost my mom this past weekend.”

“Sadly, in a tragic turn of events, my sister passed away that same day,” Carrie said.

“I feel fortunate to have been able to spend the last week with my mother before her passing. I am grateful for everyone's love, support and respect for my privacy during this difficult time.”

Carey detailed her difficult relationship with her family members in her 2020 memoir, “The Meaning of Mariah Carey,” shockingly accusing Alison of drugging her with Valium when she was just 12 years old.

Alison later sued her famous sister, claiming “Defendant's already badly damaged older sister was intentionally inflicted with extreme emotional distress by Defendant's ruthless, cruel, vindictive, vile, and entirely unnecessary public humiliation.”
