Mark Zuckerberg was seen surfing while drinking beer, Elon Musk said he '…'

The ongoing feud between Elon Musk and Mark Zuckerberg took a new turn on Friday when videos of the Meta chief surfing went viral. The tech billionaire celebrated the Fourth of July by riding on a surf board, waving an American flag and drinking beer. However, the now viral clip prompted a scathing response from Musk, who insisted he 'prefers to work' instead.

“He should keep having fun on his yachts. I prefer to work,” the Tesla and SpaceX CEO joked.

The comments come just weeks after Musk reignited talk about a potential cage fight between the two. The billionaire businessman had insisted he was ready to fight “anywhere, anytime and with any rules.”

The two billionaires have repeatedly switched ranks on the Bloomberg Billionaires Index, with Musk currently holding the top spot. He is followed by Jeff Bezos and Bernard Arnault, while Zuckerberg is fourth with a net worth of $181 billion. However, their rivalry extends far beyond their financial status.

Musk and Zuckerberg have a constant public feud, which escalated when Meta launched Threads – a social media platform that competes with X. There was even talk about a potential cage fight between the two last year.

After days of speculation – including claims that the bout would take place at Rome's Colosseum – the Meta chief said last August that it was “time to move on” because Musk was “not serious” about the contest. Zuckerberg said in a Threads post that he would be up for the challenge if Musk ever got serious about an actual date and official event.

Meanwhile, Threads is considering introducing advertising as its rivalry with X approaches a year. The service looks almost identical to X — with a feed of posts based on likes, followers and user interactions — but promises users a “less angry” feed. Threads now has more than 175 million monthly users, up from 150 million three months ago.
