Gurugram: The Municipal Corporation of Gurugram (MCG) has launched a special clean-up campaign under the Solid Waste Environmental Requirements Program (SWEP).
As part of this campaign, while several teams deployed by the municipality are busy improving Gurugram's sanitation system, action has also been stepped up against litterers in public places.
During the cleaning campaign, 493 people have been issued challans for spreading garbage in public places.
MCG teams have collected a total of Rs 2.49 lakh as fines from such persons. Violators have been directed not to pollute the city by littering otherwise legal action will be taken against them.
During the inspection, a team of Senior Sanitation Inspector of Zone-1 of Gurugram, a civic body, on Tuesday imposed a fine of Rs 25,000 on ATS Trump Society located in Sector-104.
Under the Solid Waste Management Rules 2016, the society falls under the category of bulk waste generator and is required to dispose its waste on the premises.
During the inspection, action was taken to impose a fine of Rs 25000 on the society for violating the rules.
