More specs of the Samsung Galaxy Tab S9 FE Duo appear online, won’t have OLED panels

Samsung is expected to host an event for Fan Edition devices, which include the Galaxy S23 FE smartphone, Galaxy Buds FE audio wearables, and two tablets – the Galaxy Tab S9 FE and FE+. More details on the slated pair appeared online, and fans couldn’t be happier with the findings.

According to WinFuture, the larger displays will not be OLED but LCD, which will have a big impact on battery consumption and color visibility. Also, only the Plus variant will reportedly work with the S Pen, making the non-Plus quite unattractive.

The panel of the Galaxy Tab S9 FE is expected to be 10.9” with a resolution of 2304 x 1440 pixels, which is a 16:10 aspect ratio. The Tab S9 FE+ should come with a 12.4” display and 2560 x 1600 resolution, which is the same aspect ratio as the smaller device.

The source also said the chipset won’t be a Snapdragon platform, and we’ve already seen devices with the Exynos 1380 chip — a significant downgrade from the flagship SoC on the premium Tab S9 trio.

There will be two memory options for each version. The vanilla option will come with 6/128GB or 8/256GB, while the Plus will be offered with 8/128GB or 12/256GB. All variants will have a micro SD slot for more storage up to 1 TB.

The devices should be IP68-certified and have 12 MP selfie cameras, which will likely be the same on the proper Tab S9 lineup. The smaller FE will have a single 8MP shooter on the back, while the Plus will have two cameras, but we don’t think taking photos with a device 30-some centimeters larger is a practical idea.

We already expect the tablets to be significantly more expensive than the Tab S7 FE series. The Tab S9 FE will likely start at €529, while the Tab S9 FE+ should have a starting price of €699, and that’s just for the Wi-Fi options. Tablets with 5G support are likely to cost €100 more.

All questions will be answered next month when the launch is expected. Samsung has not yet officially decided on the launch date.
