TIPPECANOE COUNTY, Ind. (WLFI) – A motorcyclist who was hit by a minivan has died in a crash Friday evening.

At approximately 6 p.m., the Tippecanoe County Sheriff's Office and VA Fire Department responded to a crash at the intersection of County Roads 800 South and 200 East.

Deputies at the scene discovered that a minivan driven by Patricia Harwood, 85, of Crawfordsville, attempted to turn left onto County Road 200 East and veered in front of the westbound motorcycle.

The motorcyclist was identified as 18-year-old Cole Groshon.

The vehicles collided and Groshon fell into a ditch area.

Both the vehicles caught fire and the occupants of the van escaped from the vehicle. Patricia Harwood and her passenger, Daniel Harwood, were taken to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Groshon was taken to hospital in critical condition and later died.
