Motorola has recently announced its traditional flagship phone in European markets and India. Now it is gearing up for the launch of its flip phone – Motorola Razr 50. The company will announce two models, a standard and an Ultra version. The strategy here is likely to target users with different price points who are willing to buy a foldable device.
The company has confirmed that the devices will be arriving in global markets on June 25. Although the India launch date details are yet to be revealed, we know that the devices will likely come to the country as the Motorola Razr 40 series was also launched here. It could arrive in India next month if the company plans to stick to last year's launch timeline.
The new Motorola Razr 50 foldable phone is expected to be priced in India similar to last year's version. This is because a fresh leak has suggested that the company is planning to announce the 2024 model in the older price range in global markets. The Motorola Razr 50 is expected to come with a price tag of EUR 899 (roughly Rs. 80,460). The Motorola Razr 50 Ultra is priced at EUR 1,199 (roughly Rs. 107,310) for the 12GB RAM + 512GB storage model. Even if these European prices are correct, the device will not be priced as high in India as last year. To recall, the Motorola Razr 40 Ultra was announced in India at a price of Rs. 89,999 while the Motorola Razr 40 was made available at Rs. 59,999. The next-generation models may launch in India in the same price range, but nothing has been confirmed yet.
Leaks of Motorola's next-generation foldable phones, the Moto Razr 50 Ultra and Moto Razr 50, have already hinted at what the specifications of the devices could be.
The Moto Razr 50 Ultra could be upgraded with the Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 chipset. Motorola fans will likely appreciate the new camera setup: a 50MP main sensor and a 50MP 2x telephoto lens, which is different from the Razr 40 Ultra's 12MP main and 13MP ultra-wide configuration. The foldable is expected to retain the 6.9-inch FHD+ main display and 3.6-inch cover display. Furthermore, a slight increase in battery capacity is also expected, with the device housing a 4,000mAh battery.
In a significant change, the Moto Razr 50 will feature a 3.63-inch cover display, which will be much larger than the 1.5-inch screen on the Motorola Razr 40. This makes it more functional for quick glances and interactions. The main display will likely be the 6.9-inch FHD+ panel seen on the previous model. It may feature a 4,200mAh battery under the hood. Under the hood, it may sport the MediaTek Dimensity 7300X chipset, but nothing has been confirmed yet.
