Mumbai News Live Updates: The biennial elections to the 11 seats of the Maharashtra Legislative Council will be held on July 12, the last day of the budget session of the state legislature. Of the 11 MLCs who retired on July 27, barely months before the assembly elections, four are from the BJP, two from the Congress while the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP), Shiv Sena, Shiv Sena (Uddhav Bala Sahib Thackeray) , farmers and labourers. Meanwhile as Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis Seemingly determined to resign after the BJP's poor performance in the Lok Sabha polls, Maharashtra party leaders will hold a meeting with Union Home Minister Amit Shah in Delhi to finalize their move. The core committee will also prepare a plan for the assembly elections 2024.
In other news, Trinamool Congress MPs Kalyan Banerjee, Sagarika Ghosh and Sakit Goklay are set to visit SEBI demanding a probe into the alleged manipulation of the stock market during the exit polls. The MPs met NCP (SP) chief Sharad Pawar on Tuesday morning who said his party was supporting them in the cause. TMC MLAs will be accompanied by Shiv Sena UBTMP Arvind Sawant MP Supriya Sole and former MLC Vidya Chavan.
