Mumbai Weather Live Updates: At least four people were killed and 65 others injured when a large storage tank collapsed on a petrol pump in Mumbai's Ghatkopar area on Monday. The incident was reported when heavy rain and strong winds lashed the city on Monday afternoon.
A team of the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) said that 67 people have been rescued and efforts are on to rescue the trapped people.
In a sudden change in the weather, the Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR) witnessed light rains accompanied by dust storms and lightning. Although the rain brought relief from the intense heat, incidents of trees falling, water logging and traffic jams were reported from across the city.

9:40 pm: Ghat Cooper hoarding was 'illegal' – Municipal Commissioner Bhushan Gagrani told Hindustan Times, “The hoarding that came down at Ghat Kopar was illegal and did not have a license. We will check the licenses of all hoardings in Mumbai and if they do not have licenses, they will be illegal. will be considered.”
Meanwhile, CM Eknath Singh also said that action will be taken against hoardings erected in Mumbai without any license or permission.
9:21 pm: 20 people are feared to be trapped in the fall of hoarding – BMC Commissioner Bhushan Gagrani said, “We suspect that 20-30 more people are trapped under the hoarding that fell at Ghat Kopar. A total of eight people have died in the incident. Rescue is on…”
9 pm: Death toll rises to 8 in Ghat Cooper hoarding collapse incident: Municipal Commissioner Bhushan Gagrani said Hindustan Times Eight people have died after a 100-feet long billboard uprooted at Cheda Nagar Junction in Ghatkopar area and fell on a petrol pump and nearby houses. More than 20 people are still trapped.
Meanwhile, news agency ANI quoted him as saying, “Four people have died. We have received information about four more deaths at the site… 64 people have been admitted to Rajwadi Hospital in Ghat Kopar.” One is in critical condition and a total of four people have died in this incident.”

8:30 pm: ₹Financial assistance of 5 lakhs to the victims of Ghat Cooper hoarding collapse incident – Maharashtra CM Eknath Shinde said The state government will take care of the treatment of those injured in the incident. ” ₹5 lakhs will be given to the next of kin of the deceased. 8:27 pm: Viral video of hoarding falling – Those injured in the hoarding fall incident at Pantnagar near Eastern Express Highway (EEH) have been taken to Rajwadi Hospital for treatment. A video of the incident has gone viral on social media platforms.
8:25 pm: Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Fadnavis reacts – Reacting to the hoarding fall incident, Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis said that he has ordered an inquiry into the incident. He said, “…an inquiry will be made as to what kind of permission they have for this stockpile, whether they had it or not…”
“Since there is a petrol pump, the rescue operation is going on cautiously. Full attention is focused on the rescue operation. Several irregularities are visible. It will be investigated who gave the permission. Some notices have been sent, and no action. Why it was not done will also be probed,” Fadnavis said while talking to the media.
8:23 pm: All hoardings in Mumbai will be audited. Fadnavis said“The Chief Minister has directed that all hoardings in Mumbai be properly audited by the BMC to reduce such incidents in future. Strict action should be taken against whoever is found guilty of such ignorance.” will go.
“Mumbai Police, Municipal Corporation BMC, Disaster Management Departments are cooperating and efforts are being made to evacuate the stranded people on war footing,” Fadnavis said in a tweet.

8:20 pm: Mumbai civic body reacts: According to PTI, the BMC said it is going to file a complaint against the advertising company for the incident. In a post on X, the BMC said, “So far, 60 people have been rescued from the accident site and taken to hospital. Four people have died in this unfortunate incident.”
8:15 pm: Falling of trees: Several incidents of tree fall were reported in the city after a short break in the rains. Some residents of Mulund also shared videos and photos of trees uprooted to block the road and appealed to the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) to help them.
“BMC was very unprepared this time. Very disappointing,” said a user on X. Another resident of Mulund said he could not go out of the building using any vehicle because of the congestion in Mahakali Nagar. Trees have blocked the road.
8:05 pm: Metal structure collapse: In another incident, a tall metal structure collapsed in front of a building in Wadala area.
8:00 pm: Auto rickshaw driver injured: A coconut tree fell on an autorickshaw driver at Meghawadi Naka in Jogeshwari while he was leaving the place after dropping a passenger. According to PTIThe driver, identified as Hayat Khan, was rushed to a nearby hospital. However, his condition is said to be critical.
