Prabhas' Kalki 2898 AD is set to hit the theatres in the next 9 days. Directed by Nag Ashwin, the film is a mix of mythology and science fiction. In a recently released prologue, Nag Ashwin revealed what Kalki 2898 AD is going to offer to the audience and what its unique selling point is.
Nag Ashwin said, “Some characters in the Mahabharata have an open ending. We still have to go to one era, and that era is the final battle. That era is where the end must inevitably begin. All the four eras and the nine incarnations of Vishnu have to end. That's how we started this project, and this is where the last story of our mythology ends. We are now in Kali Yuga, and we don't really have a story about this era because it is still going on.”
Nag Ashwin said, “I thought it would be an interesting idea if we start writing a sequel to Mahabharata. Kaliyuga moves on from Kali Yuga and he has to come to Kali Yuga. If he comes, our heroes will also have to come in it. The whole world will be a part of this story because I always felt that it was never one country. It is always the whole world.”
