NEW DELHI: State-owned NBCC on Tuesday approached the Supreme Court seeking to develop and complete 17 stalled or partially constructed projects of realty major Supertech Ltd, where around 27,000 distressed houses are located. Buyers have been stuck for years.

In the Amrapali Group case, the Supreme Court had appointed NBCC to complete stalled projects after the realty firm faced allegations of diverting and stealing huge amounts of money from homebuyers.

The bench, which agreed to list the matter on October 1, said it would consider NBCC's proposal.

“The petitioner, as per the order of this court, has successfully handed over flats to many distressed home buyers in Amrapali projects. Likewise, the petitioner has submitted proposals/terms on similar terms for viable supertech projects as well. shall submit the reference. Amrapali projects, in the larger interest of the home buyers, banks/financial institutions, and in the interest of completion and completion of the projects are subject to the orders and directions of this court,” the NBCC petition said.

NBCC, in its recent plea before the National Company Law Appellate Tribunal (NCLAT), had submitted the terms of reference for commissioning the pending projects of Supertech Limited.

NCLAT recently asked 27,000 home buyers and other stakeholders to submit their objections, if any, to NBCC's proposal to complete the stalled projects of Supertech Ltd.
