NEET question paper leak case: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) probing the NEET question paper leak case on Wednesday remanded two accused for investigation after a special court granted seven-day remand. .
Sources said that the CBI sought remand from the court for necessary interrogation of the two accused for further action. After hearing the CBI's remand plea, the court granted the remand of two accused Baldev Kumar alias Chinto Kumar and Mukesh Kumar from June 27 to July 4. Sources said that both the accused were arrested on June 22 from Deoghar in Jharkhand.
On June 25, the CBI submitted a copy of the FIR to the Special Court in Patna and sought the remand of the accused arrested by the Economic Offenses Unit. Earlier this week, the EOU submitted its 80-page memorandum to the FIRCBI. The Economic Offenses Unit also submitted its nearly 2,000-page report to the central agency. As EOU handed over the case to CBI, ADJ-5, Patna withdrew two bail applications of the accused. On June 5, the court had also stayed the arrest of prime accused Sanjeev Mukhya alias Sanjeev Kumar, who is still absconding from the CBI.
Krishnadev Mishra, senior advocate, said, “Sanjeev Kumar had applied for anticipatory bail before the District and Sessions Judge on June 4 but the case was transferred to ADJ-5 for further hearing. Bail hearing on June 5. While doing so, the court stayed Sanjeev's arrest but will not enforce it in the CBI case as it is a different matter.
