Nigerian man tried to smuggle cocaine worth Rs 25 crore at Delhi airport, arrested

New Delhi:

A Nigerian man has been arrested at the Delhi International Airport for allegedly trying to smuggle cocaine worth Rs 25 crore into the country, according to an official statement issued on Monday.

The accused was arrested on September 7 after coming from Dubai.

A statement released by the Customs Department said that during investigation, the passenger told officers that he had hidden capsules containing drugs or psychotropic substances.

He said he voluntarily produced 28 oval-shaped capsules containing suspected narcotic substances.

“He confirmed that there were more capsules in his body and agreed to undergo medical procedures to remove them. The passenger was then taken to Safdarjung Hospital for medical procedures. Hospital stay During, he took out 56 (fifty-six) more capsules,” the statement said.

When these capsules were opened, white colored powders/granules weighing 1,660 grams.

The said cocaine is estimated to be worth Rs 24.90 crore, the statement said, adding that the passenger has been arrested.
