A new tertiary treatment plant (TTP) and a state-of-the-art wetland have been set up at the Sector 54 Sewage Treatment Plant complex, aimed at ensuring sustainable water management and environmental restoration, Noida Authority officials said. Monday
Officials said the project has been implemented under the strict guidelines of the National Green Tribunal.
Certainly, TTP is a modern wastewater treatment facility that follows primary and secondary treatment processes. Its main purpose is to further improve water quality by removing residual impurities and contaminants left after the initial stages of treatment.
The TTP, with a capacity of 54MLD (million liters per day), is designed to improve water quality by significantly reducing turbidity and controlling pollutants such as total suspended solids. (TSS) and faecal coliform, following strict environmental standards.
The new wetland, adjacent to the TTP, is spread over 2.5 acres and has a storage capacity of 15,000 cubic meters. Authority officials said it is set to use about 20-22MLD of treated water per day.
“Establishment of TTP in the sector is an important step towards enhancing water quality and ensuring sustainable urban development. With advanced fiber disc technology, we can now significantly reduce pollutants and ensure can ensure that treated water meets the highest environmental standards in line with our goal of eco-friendly water management,” said Lokesh M, Chief Executive Officer, Noida Authority.
“With the commencement of TTP, water quality standards such as Chemical Oxygen Demand (COD) and Biochemical Oxygen Demand (BOD) will be more strictly controlled, complying with both ecosystem requirements and NGT guidelines. “This plant is not only a technological marvel but also a strategic step towards sustainable urban development,” said the CEO.
Officials said the wetlands adjacent to the plant will play an important role in improving local water levels, enhancing biodiversity by providing natural habitat for migratory birds and enriching the ecosystem with its strong water filtration capabilities. will do
Apart from the environmental benefits, it will serve as a field study site for students pursuing higher technical education, offering insights into water treatment technologies and ecosystem management, he said.

By improving the groundwater table and providing habitat for migratory birds and wildlife, wetlands are important to our strengthens the ecosystem.
