20-year-old Ghafran Khan, arrested from Noida in connection with death threats to actor Salman Khan and MLA Zeeshan Siddiqui, has told the police that he wanted to scare them and earn money.
Guffran works as a tattoo artist in Noida. He was arrested after the Mumbai police began investigating a threatening message sent to Zeeshan Siddiqui's Bandra office on Friday evening. The message sent to the MLA's office number said that Salman Khan and Zeeshan Siddique are under threat and there is a conspiracy to kill them. The message added that the sender knew who wanted to kill them. The Mumbai police traced the number from which the message was sent and Gaffran was arrested in Noida. He has been taken to Mumbai on transit remand.
The 20-year-old told police he planned to send another threatening message, demanding money in exchange for information, but was arrested before he could do so, sources said. told He has told the police that he was hoping that the message would scare Salman Khan and Zeeshan Siddique and at least one of them would try to contact them and he would be able to earn some money. will
The threatening message was sent weeks after Zeeshan Siddique's father, former Maharashtra minister Baba Siddique, was shot dead near the MLA's Bandra office. Jailed gangster Lawrence Bishnoi's gang has claimed responsibility for the murder.
Salman Khan has received several threats in the past few weeks. Earlier, a vegetable vendor from Jamshedpur was arrested in connection with a threatening message demanding a ransom of Rs 5 crore from the actor. A message from the same number later apologized for the ransom call and said it was a mistake. In another threatening message today, the Mumbai Traffic Control has threatened to kill the actor if he does not pay a ransom of Rs 2 crore.
The messages come months after a shooting outside the actor's Mumbai home in April. Investigation revealed that jailed gangster Lawrence Bishnoi's gang was behind the shooting. Salman Khan has received death threats from the Bishnoi gang in the past, apparently for his involvement in a blackbuck poaching case while shooting Hum Saath Saath Saath Hain in Rajasthan. The actor's security has been beefed up following the firing and death threats.
Appearing on the TV show Bigg Boss 18 days after Baba Siddique's murder, Salman Khan said that he did not want to return to the show but his commitment to his work brought him back. The actor said that due to the difficult situation he is going through, he does not feel like meeting anyone.
