An aide of AAP's Delhi MLA Amanatullah Khan has been arrested while an assault case was registered here against the lawmaker and his son following an altercation at a petrol pump, police said on Monday. A non-bailable warrant was issued.

Iqar Ahmed (50), who was nabbed near Kalindi Kunj, was not named in the FIR registered at Noida's Phase 1 police station on May 7 when Khan's son Anas Ahmed and others were arrested at a petrol pump. There was a dispute between some of the workers.

Delhi legislators also joined later.

Amanatullah Khan, who represents Okhla in the Delhi Assembly, was the only person named in the FIR. His son has been mentioned as “unknown son of MLA Amanatullah Khan” while the other accused have been identified as “others in two cars”.

A Noida Police spokesperson said, “On Monday, with the help of local intelligence and electronic surveillance, the accused Iqar Ahmed, who was wanted in a case registered at Phase 1 police station, was arrested. He was found near the Kalindi Kunj border. was kept close.” .

Amanatullah Khan's son was accused of jumping the queue for fuel at a petrol pump and later engaging in threatening behavior and violence. According to the FIR, Amanatullah Khan also allegedly threatened petrol pump workers.

The Okhla MLA has denied the allegations.

“An FIR was lodged at the Phase 1 police station in connection with a case of assault by some people at a petrol pump here. The investigation team has collected evidence in the case.

Additional DCP (Noida) Manish Mishra said, “CCTV footage was analyzed and statements of witnesses were recorded, and based on that one person – Iqar Ahmed – was arrested today”.

Mishra said he was produced before a local court here which sent him to judicial custody.

He said that the investigation against the other accused is going on and they will face legal action soon.

“The investigating officer of the case had requested the court and non-bailable warrants (NBWs) have been issued against those identified as Abubakar, Anas and Amanatullah. We will soon take strictest action against them as per the law. We will ensure legal action under the laws.” Mishra said.

The police initially imposed Sections 323 (punishment for voluntarily causing hurt), 504 (intentionally causing insult knowing that such outrage would disturb public peace), 506 (punishment for criminal intimidation) and 427 ( A case was registered under Mischief). Indian Penal Code (IPC).

Later IPC Sections 147 (rioting), 149 (unlawful assembly), 452 (passing a trace), 307 (attempt to murder), 394 (causing hurt during robbery) and 34 (multiple with common purpose) Actions performed by individuals). And provisions of the SC/ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act were invoked in the case.

Iqar Ahmed, a native of Uttar Pradesh's Hapur district, currently resides in Delhi's Shaheen Bagh area, police said.

According to officials, the Noida police visited the AAP MLA's Delhi residence last week for questioning in connection with the case.
