Odisha CM Naveen Patnaik's 3-Minute Response to PM Modi's 'Name All Districts' Challenge | Latest News India

Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Saturday slammed Prime Minister Modi for attacking the former prime minister during an election rally in the state. In a video posted on social media platform X, Patnaik said that the PM has actually forgotten Odisha. CM Patnaik said that he has sent suggestions twice about recognition of classical Odissi music. However, the PMO rejected them.

“Dear Prime Minister, how much do you remember about Odisha? Even though Odia is a classical language, you have forgotten it. 1,000 crore to Sanskrit but nil to Odia,” the Biju Janata Dal (BJD) chief said in a video posted on X.

“I have sent suggestions about the recognition of classical Odissi music and you have rejected them twice,” he added.

Reacting to the Prime Minister's statement on Odisha's natural resources, the Chief Minister said, “Odisha's natural wealth is coal. You (centre) take coal from Odisha. But you have increased the coal royalty in the last 10 years. forgot.”

CM Patnaik also questioned the Modi government as to why it forgot to “honor the brave sons of Odisha” when it conferred the Bharat Ratna award recently.

The Chief Minister's remarks came in response to the Prime Minister who had said at a rally in Odisha's Berhampur, “BJP believes in both development and legacy. Under the BJP government, the country fulfilled its 500-year wish with the construction of the Ram temple in Ayodhya. Aren't you proud to see that? In Odisha, the state BJP is committed to promoting Odia language and culture. Any son or daughter of Odisha, who is connected to its culture, will be considered by the BJP for the post of Chief Minister.

“I want to challenge 'Naveen Babu' as he has been the Chief Minister for so long, ask 'Naveen Babu' to name the districts of Odisha and their respective capitals without looking at the paper. If the Chief Minister of the state If you can't tell the names of the districts, will they know your pain?” asked the PM.

The prime minister said that if he comes to power, he will make the state “No. 1” in the next five years. “I am only requesting you to give me five years. If in these five years, I am not able to make Odisha No. 1, then you can question me,” he said.

PM also attacked BJD, Congress over poverty in the state. “Odisha has fertile land, mineral resources, sea coast, commercial center like Brahmapur, culture, heritage and what not, Odisha has everything, then why is it that Odisha is rich but its people are poor… this sin. Who is responsible, the answer is Congress and BJD?

Voting in the upcoming elections in Odisha will be held in four phases (May 13 to June 1). Counting of votes will take place on June 4.
